CODE OF ETHICS

I

AS FUNERAL DIRECTORS, we herewith fully acknowledge our individual and collective obligations to the public, especially to those we serve, and our mutual responsibilities for the proper welfare of the funeral service profession.

TO THE PUBLIC WE PLEDGE: vigilant support of public health laws; proper legal regulations for the members of our profession; devotion to high moral and service standards; conduct befitting good citizens; honesty in all offerings of service and merchandise and in all business transactions.

TO THOSE WE SERVE WE PLEDGE: confidential business and professional relationships; cooperation with the customs of all religions and creeds; observance of all respect due the deceased; high standards of competence and dignity in the conduct of all services; truthful representation of all services and merchandise.

IV

TO OUR PROFESSION WE PLEDGE: support of high educational standards and proper licensing laws; encouragement of scientific research; adherence to sound business practices; adoption of improved techniques; observance of all rules of fair competition and maintenance of personal relationships.

As an affiliate of our state association, we subscribe to the principles set forth in the Code of Ethics and pledge our best efforts to make them effective.

Our Mission Statement

The objectives for the Tennessee Funeral Directors Association are to promote improvements in and elevate the standards of funeral service providers; to unite in common organization those engaged in providing funeral services; to formulate and maintain ethical standards for the guidance of its members in their relations with each other and with the public; and to secure for the citizens of the State of Tennessee the highest quality of funeral services.

A Proud History...

The Tennessee Funeral Directors Association (TFDA) was founded in 1885 and since then has serviced the funeral profession in the Volunteer State with innovation and dedication.



Legislative Services - Gov Relations

TFDA's legislative affairs professionals, along with TFDA constantly monitors the ever changing legislative arena. This service along with the association’s volunteer leadership help ensure against 2implementing laws adverse to funeral service and the families we serve.

Continuing Eduction

Your Association provides a variety of educational programs to meet the needs of licensees. Not only to satisfy the state’s continuing education requirements, but to bring first-rate speakers and educators in the areas of relevant information in the ever changing funeral industry.

Publications: Member Communications

TFDA informs members with the latest information in the funeral industry. The Thanagram is published bi-monthly with timely articles, news and breaking developments in the industry. TFDA also utilizes email, fax and our web site (www.tnfda.org) assuring members are aware of most up-to-date events.

TFDA provides information on deaths in the TFDA family. You will be notified by email unless otherwise stated.

Volunteer Leadership Opportunities

TFDA actively recruits and trains volunteer leaders for service in our association. Team, committee and special group members are constantly in need. What have you done lately for the betterment of your profession? What changes would you like to see implemented.
